My old man turned 32 on Sunday April 5th :) We celebrated with friends at Olive Garden, then met Donny and Justina at the Botanical Gardens and hit up Dairy Queen for blizzards on the way home. It was a fun day for sure celebrating someone we love entirely too much :)

Our dear friends Juan, Morgan and baby Mannex are being re-stationed to GA. We had a going away party for them last Friday. Even though it's sad to see them go we are so excited for what the future holds for them. God has done a lot in their little family over this past year. And we know there is even greater things that are yet to come. Mannex is Josiah's Birthday Buddy :) They were born only hours apart!!

Our sweet baby boy is here!

This is his story:

I went in for a check up on Feb 4th and found out that I was dilated to 3cm and Josiah was breach. The doctor sent me immediately to the hospital where I continued to labor. Because of that they decided to do a c-section which I was opposed to but really had no other choice. In the meantime Cassia was at home fighting a nasty stomach bug that turned into pneumonia. She had to go to the ER on Thursday night Feb 5th. Then Elena Kay caught the nasty stomach bug but Thank God fought it off pretty easily. Then I got an infection on my incision with blisters and all which sent me back to the ER the day after we got home. Thank God for His strength and goodness cause I was a total wreck through this all.

Josiah is now 3 weeks old and is such an amazing baby. He is so so good and God knew I needed that with all the drama around his birth. We are past all that now and just enjoying our little blessing. We could not have done it without the help of incredible family and friends. Mark's parents drove in the day he was born and spent a week and a half with us. Their help and support was amazing. My parents were also here helping out with everything as well. And mom has come pretty much every day to help out in any way she can. Our friends brought meals for almost two whole weeks and we are still getting some this weekend.

Thanks to everyone who kept us in your prayers. We love you!!

Christmas 2008 for the Rowan's was fabulous. We had such a great time with my parents and brother. I wish I had more pictures on my camera but Eliezer was taking pictures, my dad was taking pictures and Mark was doing video. So, hopefully one day I can get pics from everyone to have a good compilation of our Christmas fun :) We were SO blessed by the amount of gifts. The girls were overwhelmed and overjoyed.

It was just an amazing day with family---relaxing, fun, but most importantly we all were thanking God for just being the best to us!! We all have such an excitement for all that He is going to do in and through us this upcoming year. My spirit was charged with an anticipation, excitement for an amazing year ahead of us.

Elena Kay's 4th Birthday!

Then on Sunday after Church we went to Chuck E. Cheeses! Another fun tradition. Haven't figured out if it's more fun for daddy or for the girls though :)

I can't even express how big and grown up Elena Kay is getting. She is the doll of the house for sure. And if I'm having such a hard time with her turing 4, I don't even want to imagine what I'll be like next year when she turns 5. I guess it's just hard seeing her change from baby to little girl. But she is truly a blessing and I know she is going to be such a big helper when the baby comes! We love you Elena Kay---Happy Birthday once again :)

We were so blessed to have my Grandma join us for Thanksgiving but even more so because it was her birthday. She is my last grandparent alive so we treasure each and every moment with her. She is an amazing woman who I love so very much :)

Thanksgiving this year was very special because we got to have it with my parents and Mark's parents. My brother Eliezer came from DC. Also, my Grandma Lee, Uncle John, Aunt MeeJung, and cousin Esther came from Newport News. And friends from our cell group came as well. It was a wonderful day filled with family, friends and feasting!! I have so much to be Thankful for this year! Here are just a few of those things-- wonderful family, always there for us friends, health, a good job for Mark, an amazing Church, and a new baby on the way! I have found myself Thanking God on so many days this year. He truly is our provider and our strength and through Him all things are possible. And because of this Hope that fills our lives only the best is yet to come :) If you are reading this you are for sure one of those that I have thanked God for on many occasions. Keep on keeping on and please know you are loved more than you can imagine!

Grayson (Jeanette's youngest son) turned 2 on Friday. But his birthday party for his little friends was on Thursday. It was a Curious George party. Jeanette made home made pizza with yummy sides like carrots, bananas on a stick, etc. but the best was the dessert--banana splits with toppings galore!!

We went to the Outerbanks for a one night, two day weekend getaway! I haven't had so much fun in a long time. Felt like teenagers but then realized I'm 30 and pregnant and feeling every bit of this adventure. But I wasn't about to stop. We walked a ton and laughed our heads off every step of the way. Mark had the whole weekend planned out. We started off at the Wright Brothers Memorial. Did lunch at Awful Arthur's, hit up the Bodie lighthouse, went to a state park that housed the lost colony as well as the Elizabethan Gardens. On the way to check in to our hotel we did the outlets. Then we went to dinner at Tale of a Whale and watched a movie that night. All on Saturday our first day there :) Whew--it's tiring just writing all of that. Then the next morning we did the cheesy beach gift shops/fudge shops, and played putt putt at this amazing course. Then we did lunch and headed home where I slept the entire car ride home. Yes, from pure exhaustion but utterly happy and content with an amazing weekend with the love of my life.

Disney on Ice came to Hampton in the beginning of October and I just had to take Elena Kay. This is her second show. She went two years ago and LOVED it :) Once again she was mesmerized by the performance and even jumped to her feet to dance to the music. I think I had more fun watching her enjoy the show then watching the show it self. We went with my parents and Leah and Anna Sophia who had her grandma with her as well. It was truly "a dream come true" --- in the words of Elena Kay.

We went to the zoo last week and had the perfect day there so far. Leah has a membership that gets us in with her for free which is a huge blessing. But what made it such a great day was the cool weather and lack of people there. We went at our own pace, the girls loved every second and more animals were visible today than previous visits. It was the beginning of Fall for me!!

18 weeks preggos

So, today was the big reveal day!! And we found out we are having our little boy--Josiah Lee Rowan. He looked so cute, he even waved at us in one of his pics, and the ultra sound tech commented on how she had to chase him all around. Mom and I already hit up the mall to buy some boy clothes. So, Mark was happy to see that his little boy will be rockin out in his first flying V guitar onesie.

So, Tuesday night Mark heard some noise looked out our window and saw a fight in our court. He did the good citizen thing and called the cops. Who informed him he was one of many calls already and that they were coming to handle the situation. Unfortunately, his car was too close to the action and the poor thing couldn't punch back when someone was shoved into it. Our property management said they evicted the house involved. Which was quick action on their part but it did make me feel good that they were on top of things and proved they don't take people messing around in our neighborhood. So little blue will hopefully get a nice face lift tonight when our friend who is a mechanic works on pulling out it's little dings.

Mark and I got super blessed with free tickets to the Switchfoot, Third Day concert :) We were so excited to have a date night! It had been a while. The music was fantastic and it brought back tons of memories from the good ole college days. Tiny baby was kicking away at the LOUD music and Mark was hoarse that night as if he had been singing on stage. It was too much fun!

So, the latest and greatest regarding tiny baby is that we find out if we are having a boy or girl on Wednesday September 17th at 10am :) We could not be more excited!!!

Elena Kay is sticking to her it's a girl guess and Cassia says it's a boy. Well, we know one of them is right so we'll find out soon who is. At-least, Elena Kay has stopped saying she wants a girl and a boy!! We had to keep reminding her there was only one in mommies tummy.

We were so happy to be able to drive up with Mimi for Sofia's 1st Birthday party!! It was a two day trip jam packed with excitement. We first drove to Priscilla's house to bring Merry (our cat) to her new home. Then we headed straight for the Elmo Birthday Bash at my cousin Malu's house. It was a great party!

The next morning we went to Eliezer and Priscilla's Church and then to lunch where Ben, Malu, and Sofia met us. It was the best Bolivian food BUT of course it didn't compare--even come close to my Aunt Charito's cooking :)

We through a surprise party for Jen's 30th Birthday on Monday Aug 4th which was actually the day of her 7 year anniversary. So, Joe was able to scheme this into a perfect set up for this great party :) She was definitely genuinely surprised much to our delight. What a fun night and great dinner!!

Friday night we hit up the boardwalk and rented some cool 4 people bikes with three other couples from cell. We did some drag racing, watched the moon rise, listened to some cool tunes and basically had a swell time. Elena Kay and Cassia had the best seats though -- the front of the bike. Elena Kay would raise up her hands straight in the air as if on a cool roller coaster. Too cute for words!!

Turning 30 has been a blast!! Me and the girls (Jen and Jeanette) have been planning a weekend away to celebrate all of us turning 30 this year. We went to Williamsburg June 21st - 22nd. We went to the Kingsmill Resort and did a half day spa package that was to die for. Then we went and had a nice dinner at the Chophouse and went outlet shopping. It was such a wonderful weekend!!

Father's Day was a blast! The girls and I got Mark a cool hat and sweet shirt. He was decked out for Church. He has never got so much attention in one day in his life!! And of course I didn't get a picture. SHAME SHAME. Oh well, I promise to post one when he wears the outfit again. Cause trust me if you did not see him Sunday it is a must see! He so could have been on the cover of GQ or Vogue Men. He was stylin for sure. Well, Papa and Mimi got back from a trip to FL so we had dinner with them. The girls were oh so happy to see them. Dylan's 5th Birthday Party!

Dylan had his 5th birthday party this past Saturday June 14th. It was a Nemo pool party. Nemo was also celebrating his 5th bday too. The girls had such fun in the pool. And so did the grown ups. We were having so much fun I didn't have time to take any pictures of that. But we were so proud of Elena Kay as she got brave and swam around all by herself with the help of her inner tube!!

So, it's another scorcher of a day. The only time I attempted to venture past the security of our AC was to take out the trash. I held my breath made a dash and then ran back inside to the comfort and chill that so nicely awaited me. So, what do you do on a day like today but eat popsicles --Oh NO! not outside but inside! They would have melted in seconds. And then I would have had to eat the popsicles all by myself :) Poor little girls cannot stand the intense heat. We tried a Walmart run yesterday. We succeeded but definitely decided that we wouldn't be going anywhere after that!

Dylan turns 5 on the 13th. The girls are so excited for his party this Saturday. I'm sure I'll blog about it later.

We finally made our way up to Suffolk on Wednesday June 4th. It had been a while and we wanted to let the kids play outside in the water. Well, we definitely picked a HOT day. The kids had so much fun and we sure did sweat a lot. Jeanette had lunch for us and the kidos had so much fun!

Elena Kay washed her first car on Saturday May 31st. Mark watched the girls for me that morning so I could get the Liberty's oil changed, and run a few errands. A small nicety that I enjoy since I rarely get to go run errands without the girls :)

Well, when I got back Mark decided to wash his car. And Elena Kay wanted to help out. It was too cute not to capture this memory. Of course it was perfect that she was doing it wearing a dress! She is all girl. No matter what she's doing she will do it while looking beautiful!!

Memorial Day!

What a fun Memorial Day :) Mark only gets like 6 days off from work a year and Memorial Day is one of these so we were really happy about having Mark for a day!! We went to Sandbridge with my parents. The water was ice cold but all our fun was watching the girls play in the sand, laying out and eating snacks on the beach. Then we headed to my parents for a yummy classic barbecue with hamburgers, beans, potato salad, chips etc.

Our first trip to the Beach (April 2008) was simply beautimous :) The weather was so nice and the girls got to play at the new playground right on 21st street. There will be more beach days ahead for sure.

My New Club!

I have officially joined the 30 year old club as of April 15th. The brilliant very creative Mark started the celebration 6 days earlier by giving me an awesome t-shirt on Thursday, then Friday I got a dozen purple roses and a beautiful ceramic vase, Saturday was an amazing breakfast, Sunday was a box of exotic chocolates, and Monday was a bucket full of scrapbook pieces called chipboards and to top it all off Tuesday was my party :) Mark invited out friends to have dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen and it was yum yum good. I actually thought prior to this momentous day that I would have a mini breakdown. Maybe shed some tears and wallow around that I'm leaving my beloved 20s for older unknown years. However, when the day arrived I was actually thrilled. Of

course reading cards at my party from girls in their early 20s saying "I want to be just like you when I get older" definitely threatened the breakdown but once again I refrained. My joy was too complete. The day was a blast and a hit!! And I end by saying what everyone keeps telling me that "the 30's are the new 20's"!! We shall see :)

Mark's 31st Birthday

Mark turned 31 on April 5th and to celebrate this grand occasion his parents came in for a visit. What a fun weekend!

Mark went shopping reaping the benefits of his birthday money and gift certificate. Then to top the night off we pigged out at the Cheesecake Factory which was quite deelish I must add.
